We don't need the problems that come with shale gas development. Much of New Brunswick financial troubles were cause economic policies enacted by the federal government. The Canadian Constitution is supreme law in Canada. It can and should be used by the provincial government to reverse the economic damage done and force Ottawa to put the interest of ordinary Canadian citizens ahead of that of transnational corporation. I list 4 initiatives that the provincial government could undertake to improve the economic state of the province. They require a lot of will power. I don't think the present government is up to the task. We need a Danny Williams or a Louis J. Robichaud, but I don't see one on the horizon.
